Tennessee Thomas is the founder of the L.A. based Deep End Club, an activist space working to make the world a better place. We’ve joined forces to share the message of her printed tees and why giving a damn matters.
“The ‘Give a damn’ t-shirt works as a great conversation starter. What do you give a damn about? Wearing that t-shirt invites to reflection. It's incredible to see how strongly it resonates and how we’re giving a damn all over the world! It reminds me of how hugely powerful the women's march was last year when Trump got elected, seeing millions of women protesting. It shows how it's a female-driven movement right now, to give a damn.
This co-lab happened in a very natural way, when Caroline from & Other Stories attended one of the Deep End Club’s radical open mics and proposed the idea. The campaign images are also personal as they were shot at the Deep End Club space in L.A. with my friends Sasami, Kyleigh and Ariel, who all activists engaged in issues such as removing landmines and spreading environmental awareness.
I’ve found the Deep End Club to be a beautiful experience. I first started it as a shop where I used clothes as a way to spread a message, and now it’s become a physical place where art and activism meet. Having been a drummer in a rock band, I consider the t-shirts to be like merch for the Deep End Club; a community that works to make a difference.”
